Marigolds, Calla Lily and Handmade Ceramics — Anjula + James at Stones of the Yarra Valley

Anjula came with a brief and the freedom to run with it — orange, texture, a love of calla lilies and a love of ceramics. That's the kind of starting point we do our best work from, and we took it somewhere artful.

The arrangement grows up from the floor in a semi-circle, featuring a vibrant, textural mix of bright orange blooms, including marigolds, alongside deep burgundy foliage, white accent flowers, and striking, weeping green amaranthus. Clear glass cylinder vases holding lit white pillar candles are interspersed at the base of the flowers. Behind the installation is a textured, light-colored wall featuring a large arched window draped with green vines at the top.

Orange is a tricky colour to pull off at scale. The way through is en masse with a tight, intentional product list rather than a scattered one — so we went hard on texture and committed to it. The ceremony was our take on the current tumbling-grasses moment, layered with hand-threaded orchid garlands and marigolds en masse: warm, generous, and unmistakably considered rather than trend-chasing. Calla lily, lilies and anthurium carried the palette through.

The styling is where it all locked together. We brought in new pieces from our ceramics collection — rough-hewn, handmade elements including ceramic candle holders — and designed the table florals to work hard alongside snow-weave linens and burnt-orange napkins, the napkins chosen to match candles we bought in especially. Every element pulling in the same direction. At the end of the night, the florals were gathered up and handed to guests on their way out.
