Callista and Mark’s wedding plans were relaxed with a focus on all things boho and textural.
Callista described her wedding plans as laid back and loved all things boho and textural. She showed me images of her Rue de Seine dress and my jaw hit the floor. Callista wanted earthy, modern, natural tones and loads of movement. Nothing too structured.
I’d been experimenting with dyeing my silk ribbons and phalaenopsis orchids and knew that the red earth tones would pair beautifully with bleached back ruscus, sahara, quicksand and toffee roses and my dried textures.
The ceremony was to be held in the Capella on the Zonzo property in the Yarra Valley. I built a single upright pillar that would frame the ceremony space with loads of pillar candles in glass. We have a really tight bump in at Zonzo, so I had a great team on site with me to build out the ceremony installation. We quickly filled the pillar with oversized, dried palms, long rosehip branches and dried ferns and foliages for texture. Over this base we added reflexed roses and my hand dyed phalaenopsis.
We lined the aisle with small copper pots filled with blooms and these pots were then used to decorate the long shared tables for the reception. Straight after the ceremony we also moved the ceremony installation to frame the fireplace in the restaurant, so it could continue to be enjoyed through the night.
